Yoga in the Alpine is a collective of experienced yoga teacher/practitioners offering classes and workshops for every level, inspired by the traditions of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and B.K.S. Iyengar. All classes and workshops are upstairs at the Alpine Bakery, 411 Alexander Street, Whitehorse, Yukon.
Visit our website for schedules, workshop descriptions and dates, teacher profiles, contact information, photos, recipes, recommended reading, interesting links and more.
Yoga in the Alpine was started in 2004 by Iain Grysak and Erica Heuer, joined by Terice Reimer-Clarke in 2005, by Theresa Gulliver in 2008 and Carolyn Coombs in 2009.
Ashtanga Vinyasa and Iyengar traditions focus on “taught” classes and workshops that emphasize awareness, breath, core, bandhas, alignment, anatomical understanding, and empowering students to develop a personal practice.
We believe yoga is for everyone and every body.
We work to help expand yoga beyond class, into life, bringing the eastern wisdoms of ayurveda and the classic yogic texts, to our teachings.
We teach in the traditions of Ashtanga Vinyasa and Iyengar because we feel these are, over the long-term, the safest most comprehensive forms with which to understand yoga and progress to its deepest layers and benefits in all aspects of life – for the duration of one’s life. We aspire to do and live yoga up to and including our last days.
These, plus sharing our own physical and spiritual yoga journeys, are what compel us to support each other and teach together at Yoga in the Alpine.
We hope you will drop in!
